One More Time, From The Top

The first post sucked.  Nope, not apologizing and I'm not going to delete it (that's against my rules for this).  I should have started with a mission statement, something to lay the groundwork for what I'll be posting and what I'm trying to do.

My goal is to become a writer, at least semi-professionally.  Not even going to pretend I'm prolific or skilled enough to survive on writing alone; though that would be awesome.  The normal avenues for becoming an author run through university campuses; truthfully I'm a terrible student, which means the normal avenues becoming a writer are less accessible for me.

There are other ways.  I need to improve my writing, share my vision, hopefully develop an audience.  Keeping that in mind, my goal is to write 1-3 hours daily, to build a routine.  Every other day I will post something, sometimes more often.

I'll talk about what's in my head.  This is not a journal, though I may share events from my day if I feel them worth sharing.  There will be editorials, fiction, poetry and reviews of books, movies & music.  This is my soapbox, after all and I can shout what I want from it.  I do expect that I'll eventually have multiple blogs with different purposes.

Peace.

Hello World!

I was very excited about starting this blog a few hours ago.  Now, I'm sitting here agonizing over what my first post should be about.  I expect to do some book, movie and music reviews in the future.  I've set myself a goal of writing for at least an hour each day, to build up the "write" muscles.

Let's do a bit of journaling.

I took my grandma, I call her mama (like maa-mah) around on her weekly errands today.  First stop was Bi-mart, where she loaded up on cans and cleaner.  Next stop was Office Max for a new keyboard with a smaller profile, last week I took her to get a new desk and her old keyboard was a little large for the tray.  We found the Microsoft Arc USB Keyboard, Black, massive space savings but the keys aren't well spaced and sized, it does this by removing the num-pad, which she never uses anyway.  So, that was cool.  Finally, we went to Riverview Mongolian Grill for supper, which was good as always.

When we finished, back home.  I hooked up the new keyboard, updated her software and did another tweak on her display settings.  Yahoo mail doesn't scale well when you up the DPI, so that's been an uphill battle over the last 2 weeks, but I found a balance.

This song just came on, Four Seconds, I love that there are in fact rhymes for orange.

Peace
